20th Nov 2004 – My first visit to Himachal ends.
At 05:00am alarm rings and I get up. With the fear of rat I’m not able to sleep properly. I start to pack my lugguage and come down at the counter, to wake up the guy there. After paying for the food and room I come out to put lugguage on the bike. Try to start the bike to warm up but it refused to start, looks like the battery has gone dead. I top up battery water and try again. No luck. After 5-6 more kicks finally bike starts and I’m back on road. It is 05:35 on the clock and odo is showing 18,788.
Soon I’m out of city and back on NH1 it is still dark so it feels like riding in night. After few kilometers bike comes into reserve as I just have got into the cruising zone. I stop at the next city of Karnal for fuel. As I resume aftet filling fuel, sun has started to come out. With sun light there and road almost empty in the early morning time, I upped my pace so reach Nodia by breakfast time. Miles are getting munched quickly and soon I’m cruising at speeds of 90+ taking full advantage of the empty road. It is a bit cold but after what I have been through in last two days, this cold is not much of a problem.
At 08:25 with odo showing 18,955 I reach ISBT. Delhi roads are also very empty as compared to what one gets to see in day time and in evening, so I‘m able to ride at speed of around 80. Enjoying every minute on smooth and empty Delhi roads I reach Noida at 08:45 with odo showing 18,977. My sister is surprised to see me coming so early in the morning. I get fresh up and after breakfast I decide to go out to meet some people before I head back to Pune tomorrow.
From Noida I head towards Ghaziabad to meet up my Aunty. After Ghaziabad I head towards John’s garage for an oil change for my baby. On the way to India gate bike comes into reserve and I quickly fill in some fuel at the next gas station. Odo showing 18,991 I reach John’s garage where my baby receives a much needed oil change. While changing oil John notices that the chain is too tight, so he adjusts it up a bit. After spending some time with him I head back to Noida to take spend some time with my sister and to relax for the long ride back home.
